More detail on this person: Obituary column of our local newspaper in Hamilton, MT "Griffin E. "Skip" Fisk, 56 of Hamilton died Sunday, March 23, 2003 as a result of a helicopter crash while working in Marion County, Tenn. He was born in Covington, Ky., to Griffin and Meriam Fisk. He was raised in Taylor Mill, Ky., and attended school in Covington. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968. In the Army he obtained his pilot's license and flew for the 25th Infantry Division. He spent about a year in the Vietnam War, where he was shot down once and was awarded the Purple Heart. Also while in Vietnam, he earned two Distinguished Flying Crosses. After he was honorably discharged from the Army he went right to work as a commercial helicopter pilot. His two major employers were Rocky Mountain Helicopters and Carson Services, Inc. He settled down in the Bitterroot Valley in 1986. This is also where he owned and operated a small family ranch." Perhaps of interest to his fellow aviators is: " In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Skip Fisk Memorial Fund, a college trust fund for his children at the Ravalli County Bank, P.O.
