Description: Soon after the Marines involved in operation NEW YORK returned to Phu Bai, the 1st ARVN Div asked them to help an ARVN Bn that had engaged the 810th VC Bn just east of Phu Bai in the Phu Thu Peninsula. Starting at 2100 on the 27th until 0200 on the 28th, HMM-163 lifted three Marine companies into several zones on the peninsula. The ARVN provided the blocking force and the Marines attacked the VC. By the time NEW YORK ended on Mar 6, the Marines had killed 120 VC, captured 7 more and seized 69 weapons while suffering 17 US KIA and 37 WIA
